Capping of Grant Aid Scheme

From 9th December 2009 the grant aid offered to individual applications has been capped at £250k. This change has resulted from a massive response to the current scheme. NIEA experienced a 160% increase in the number of applications following its introduction in May 2008. By December 2009 this had resulted in the repair and maintenance of around 170 listed buildings. The new capping arrangement will affect a very small number of listed buildings and will be reviewed in March 2010.

If you have any questions in regard to this arrangement please go to our Grant Capping Frequently Asked Questions section.

NGO Grant aid Scheme

Grant aid is also available for charities to aquire historic buildings at risk in Northern Ireland through a scheme administered for NIEA by the Architectural Heritage Fund.

In an agreement with the Fund we have set aside money from the listed buildings grant budget to help it fund ‘Building Preservation Trusts or other charities in NI, seeking assistance with the acquisition costs of Listed Buildings at Risk’. Money will also be made available to help ‘Groups seeking help and financial assistance in setting up a BPT'. See NGO Grant Aid Scheme to find out more.
